Boys in Mind Conference

Focus on boys and young men's mental health


Meeting the needs of boys' and young men's mental health. A half day conference showcasing learning from across schools and other settings working to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of boys and young men.


The conference will include:-
  • Identifying the need for a male friendly approach to improving mental health and wellbeing of children and young people
  • Boys and young men discussing their involvement in the programme
  • Films developed locally with young men in collaboration with the film company Suited and Booted
  • Staff and young people from local schools talking about their involvement in Boys in Mind and its impact
  • Sharing of a different approach to supporting boys and young men using Solution Focus techniques
  • Practical tips for parents / carers to help them support this work


Participants will have a better understanding of:
  • How to reduce stigma around mental health for boys and young men
  • How to encourage boys and young men to seek support and to support their friends
  • How to explore and challenge stereotypes / gender conditioning
