Inspiring a Confident, Aspirational, Nurturing Early Years Workforce
The Early Years Service offers training, support, and resources to home and group based early years settings and schools. We work in partnership with the diverse early years sector and other early childhood partners, including Health Visitors, Social Care and Children’s Centre Services, to achieve the best outcomes for all children.
Our key focus is to close the achievement gap for disadvantaged children. We will do this by working in partnership to support early years colleagues to identify potentially vulnerable children within the cohort; track and monitor progress; identify appropriate evidence based interventions; be clear about the difference they are making and show the impact on children’s progress which will enable them to catch up quickly with their peers. Most importantly we will encourage and support colleagues to work in partnership with parents/carers to support their child’s learning and development at home.
We work from the evidence base that high quality early childhood education and care makes a difference to children’s life chances and that all children are entitled to this level of quality.
Our vision is to help facilitate strong peer networks where practitioners can learn from each other, to provide a steer to the sector in times of change and to support busy colleagues to reach and maintain high standards by providing resources and continuing professional development opportunities that support reflective practice. We will do this by: responding to local needs through an analysis of the Early Years Profile data set, supporting new practitioners to get off to a good start and listening to feedback and requests from practitioners, leaders and managers.
We offer a full range of continuing professional development opportunities which are available to view and book on The Hub, an open online communication platform. Settings may wish to purchase a premium membership package which entitles them to substantial discounts as well as a range of other benefits.
